International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism

INTBAU’s mission is to support traditional building, the maintenance of local character, and the creation of better places to live. We do this through workshops, summer schools, study tours, conferences, awards, and competitions.

INTBAU was established in 2001, and has since gained over 30 chapters and 7,000 members in more than 100 countries worldwide. We work under the patronage of our founder, HRH The Prince of Wales

INTBAU Architecture Challenge - A competition for low-carbon, no-carbon, and carbon-negative designs for resilient and adaptable houses.

We want students, teachers, architects, designers, engineers, and anyone with an interest in buildings and building to take on The Challenge. You can get involved by joining the interactive online learning series, and by taking part in the design competition.

The learning series is free and open to everyone and will begin on 30 July with a webinar on architecture’s responsibility and opportunity better to serve people and the planet.

INTBAU Exhibition - Engelsberg Summer School in Classical Architecture (SE)
'Learnings from Borlänge'

On 1st July 2019, 22 students from 18 different countries came together to attend the first day of the Engelsberg Summer School in Classical Architecture. Over the next four weeks, students learned and applied the fundamentals of architecture through various hand drawing exercises, ranging from small pavilions to large public buildings, all located in the Swedish City of Borlänge. This virtual exhibition is a record of their work, which was initially intended to be displayed at the museum BOMO Borlänge Modern in the Spring of 2020.

This magazine is aimed at people and institutions interested in traditional building, architecture and urbanism. Its articles are related to the theory and practice of these disciplines. Its objective is to promote the creation of places and buildings that are in harmony with the local culture and tradition and that are respectful of the environment and its natural resources. It also aims to provide a better knowledge of the traditional constructive cultures of the various regions of the world and, with it, a greater respect towards them that may contribute to their better preservation and to their continuity.

Stichting Bouwhistorie Nederland

De SBN is hét platform voor alles op het gebied van bouwhistorie en bouwhistorisch onderzoek. De Stichting, die in 2016 haar 25-jarig bestaan viert, heeft het vakgebied bouwhistorie zowel vakinhoudelijk als beleidsmatig op de kaart gezet. De Stichting heeft aan de wieg gestaan van de HBO+ opleiding Bouwhistorie, Restauratie en Monumentenzorg en middels publicaties en studiedagen wordt bouwhistorische kennis overgedragen.
